Meta Partners with Reliance for AI Data Center in India, Expanding AI Infrastructure
Meta has announced a partnership with Reliance Industries to establish a 168-megawatt AI-enabled data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat, India. This collaboration marks Meta's first AI infrastructure investment in India, a rapidly growing hub for AI infrastructure. The partnership builds on Meta's previous $5.7 billion investment in Reliance's Jio Platforms and a $100 million joint venture to develop enterprise AI solutions. The data center will be powered by renewable energy and cooled using desalinated seawater, with Meta covering the energy and water costs. This move is part of a broader trend of tech companies investing in India's AI and cloud infrastructure, driven by policy incentives and rising demand for computing power.
