Preservation Maryland Participates in Community Development Forum, Highlights Historic Preservation
Preservation Maryland recently participated in the Uplift & Innovate: A Community Development Forum, hosted by the Maryland State Innovation Team at the Justice Thurgood Marshall Amenity Center in Baltimore. The forum brought together over 150 developers, local leaders, state agencies, and community partners. A key focus of the event was the expansion of the Maryland Community Compass, a free platform designed to provide information for understanding Maryland communities and making informed decisions about development and investment. The expanded platform now includes Neighborhood Insights, Site Insights, and a directory of over 2,600 funding programs. Patrick Mooney, Chief Development Officer of Preservation Maryland, joined Dr. Al Hathaway of Beloved Community Services Corporation to discuss the human experiences behind community data, emphasizing the importance of understanding existing community character and history before planning new investments.
