Brilliant Aurora Possible Across the Northern U.S. Tuesday
A strong geomagnetic storm triggered by a coronal mass ejection from the sun could make the northern lights visible across much of the northern U.S. Tuesday, potentially reaching as far south as the Midwest and parts of Oregon. The storm, linked to recent M8.1 and X1.1 solar flares, may produce vivid green, red, and purple auroras. Skywatchers in the northern Plains, Ohio Valley, Pennsylvania, and New England could see the display through high clouds, though clear, dark skies away from city lights provide the best viewing conditions.
