Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders Oversees Approval of Consolidated Workforce Plan, Redirecting $6 Million to Services
The U.S. Department of Labor has approved Arkansas' Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) State Plan, a move that will significantly restructure the state's workforce development system. This newly approved plan, which is the first combined WIOA-Perkins State Plan in Arkansas' history, aims to strengthen workforce development and expand career opportunities for Arkansans. Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders stated that the changes are designed to shift funds from administrative expenses to direct services for residents and employers. Under the plan, Arkansas will consolidate 10 existing workforce boards into a single statewide system. State officials project that this consolidation will redirect approximately $6 million from duplicative operating and overhead costs into direct workforce services.
