Link Cell Therapies Initiates Phase I Trial for Logic-Gated CAR-T Therapy in Kidney Cancer, Expands Series A Funding
Link Cell Therapies, an oncology cell therapy company, has begun clinical dosing for its lead program, LNK001, a logic-gated CAR-T therapy, in a Phase I study for advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC) at MD Anderson Cancer Center. LNK001 is designed to target both CAIX and ENPP3 antigens, which are highly expressed in most RCC tumors. This dual-targeting approach aims to overcome the limitations of conventional CAR-T cells that target only CAIX, which can cause on-target, off-tumor toxicity in healthy tissues. The company also announced an expansion of its Series A financing from $60 million to $90 million, with additional capital supporting the clinical and preclinical development of other logic-gated CAR-T programs. Furthermore, Link Cell Therapies has appointed Jie D'Elia, Ph.D., as Chief Executive Officer, and Friedrich Graf Finckenstein, M.D., as Chief Medical Officer, with co-founder Brian Slingerland transitioning to Executive Chair.
