European Commission Proposes Industrial Accelerator Act to Boost EU Manufacturing and Sustainability
The European Commission (EC) has introduced the Industrial Accelerator Act (IAA), a legislative proposal aimed at revitalizing the EU's manufacturing sector and promoting sustainability. The IAA includes 'made-in-EU' requirements for public procurement, new foreign direct investment (FDI) controls in emerging sectors, and streamlined permit procedures for industrial projects. The act targets energy-intensive industries, net-zero technologies, and the automotive sector, with a focus on reducing reliance on non-EU countries, particularly China. The proposal is part of the EU's broader economic security strategy to enhance competitiveness and technological leadership.
