T2T Consortium Achieves Full Diploid Human Genome Reconstruction, Advancing Precision Medicine
The Telomere-to-Telomere (T2T) Consortium has successfully reconstructed the complete human genome, including full sets of chromosomes from each parent. This achievement, led by researchers from Johns Hopkins University and other institutions, builds on previous efforts to complete the human genome by filling in the last eight percent. The current study, published in Cell, goes further by reconstructing diploid genomes, which contain two slightly different copies of every chromosome. This advancement allows for more accurate genome analysis and is expected to enhance diagnostic precision and accelerate research in precision medicine.
