US Appeals Court Reinstates $655M Verdict Against PLO and Palestinian Authority
A federal appeals court in New York has reinstated a $655.5 million judgment against the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Palestinian Authority. This decision revives a significant U.S. civil terrorism award related to attacks during the Second Intifada. The case, originally filed in 2004, involved American victims of attacks in Jerusalem in the early 2000s. A 2015 jury found the PLO and Palestinian Authority liable, but the verdict was overturned due to jurisdictional issues. The U.S. Supreme Court's 2025 decision allowed such claims to be heard, leading to the reinstatement of the original judgment.
