Georgia and Florida Wildfires Lead to Evacuations and Destruction of Homes
Wildfires in Georgia and Florida have led to the destruction of over 120 homes and the threat to nearly 1,000 more. The fires, fueled by drought conditions, have forced evacuations and road closures. In Georgia, the Pineland Road Fire and the Highway 82 Fire are major blazes, with the former burning over 31,000 acres. Governor Brian Kemp has stated that these fires have caused more home destruction than any other in Georgia's history. The National Guard has been deployed to assist with firefighting efforts. In Florida, 134 wildfires are actively burning, affecting air quality and visibility.
