Irondequoit Creek Flooding Persists After Heavy Rainfall
Irondequoit Creek has experienced significant flooding over the past few weeks due to persistent heavy rainfall. The creek, located in the Brighton and Penfield areas of New York, has overflowed its banks, leading to saturated wetlands and flooded paths in local parks such as Ellison Park and Channing Philbrick Park. The water levels have been high, causing rapids in certain areas and leaving mud on park paths. As of April 9, 2026, the water has begun to recede, but the banks remain saturated, and erosion is visible along the creek. The flooding has impacted local recreational activities, with fishing spots affected by the high water levels.
