Cleveland Clinic Survey Reveals Social Media Influencers Impact Men's Health Choices Despite Distrust
A recent Cleveland Clinic survey indicates that a significant portion of men are influenced by health and wellness trends promoted by social media influencers, even though a majority express distrust in such information. The survey found that 39% of polled men have tried a health or wellness trend after encountering it on social media. Furthermore, one-third of men reported using supplements or performance enhancers advertised by influencers. Dr. Petar Bajic, a urologist at Cleveland Clinic, highlighted that supplements do not undergo the same safety and efficacy testing as pharmaceuticals, a distinction many consumers may not understand. While 73% of men feel motivated to improve their health after seeing online content, 44% also admit to comparing their bodies, fitness levels, and overall health to what they see on social media, which can lead to feelings of discouragement.
