Chicago Sun-Times Launches 'Pursuit of the Suit' to Locate Barack Obama's Tan Suit
The Chicago Sun-Times and its former Washington bureau chief, Lynn Sweet, have initiated a project titled 'Pursuit of the Suit' to locate the tan suit worn by former President Barack Obama at a press conference on August 28, 2014. This suit caused a significant stir at the time and has recently gained renewed attention with the opening of the Barack Obama Presidential Center. During one of his final shows, Stephen Colbert inquired about the suit's presence in the museum, but it is not housed there. Valerie Jarrett, CEO of the Obama Foundation, stated that President Obama 'gave it away when he was cleaning out his closet.' Sweet discovered that the suit was made by Martin Greenfield, a Holocaust survivor who became a renowned tailor in New York. A replica of the suit was created for a skit featuring President Obama and Larry David in the HBO series 'Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness.' The Chicago Sun-Times is now seeking tips from the public to help find the original suit.
