Severe Weather Outbreak Brings Tornadoes and Hail to Nebraska, Kansas, and Iowa
A significant severe weather outbreak is impacting the Central Plains, with a Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Tornado Watch issued for parts of Kansas and Nebraska. As of Monday evening, multiple tornadoes have been reported, including a tornado emergency near Pawnee City, Nebraska, where a large and life-threatening tornado caused significant damage. Over 15 tornadoes, 150 wind reports, and 50 hail reports have been recorded so far. Thunderstorm wind gusts reached 82 mph near Estherville, Iowa, and a grain elevator was damaged in Greenville, Iowa. The National Weather Service (NWS) is conducting damage surveys to confirm the number, intensity, and tracks of the tornadoes. Severe storms also impacted the Greater Chicagoland area earlier in the day, with wind gusts of 79 mph recorded at Midway Airport.
