Delaware Teen Natacha Malave Publishes Children's Book on Diverse Family Structures, Advocates for Foster Care Awareness
Natacha Malave, a senior at Howard High School of Technology in Delaware, has self-published a children's book titled 'All Families Are Unique.' Inspired by her own experiences growing up in foster care, Malave wrote the book to reflect the diverse ways families are formed and to challenge misconceptions about foster care. The book encourages children to embrace the people who love and support them, regardless of blood relation or appearance. In June, Malave held a book signing where all copies sold out within 30 minutes. She has since visited elementary school classrooms, teaching lessons that prompt students to draw their own definitions of family. Malave is also the vice president of HOPE, a foster care organization, and has been advocating for foster care awareness since her freshman year, earning state recognition for her work.
