Two Maryland Men Charged for Using Exotic Animals in Photoshoots, Raising Animal Welfare Concerns
Two men from Baltimore, Maryland, Vernon Crowfey III and Jayden Evans, have been charged with multiple offenses for allegedly using exotic animals in unauthorized photoshoots. The photoshoots, which took place in a parking garage beneath a luxury shopping complex, involved animals such as snakes, a lemur, and a spider monkey. The men are accused of staging these shoots without the necessary permits, as required under the Animal Welfare Act. An undercover operation led to their arrest after it was confirmed that neither had a valid Class C exhibitor or dealer license. During a search of Evans's home, authorities found several animals living in inadequate conditions, leading to charges of animal cruelty. Both men face 23 misdemeanor and felony charges, including arson-related offenses for allegedly setting fire to the garage floor during the photoshoots.
