Heavy Rainfall Causes Significant Flooding in Clovis, New Mexico, Submerging Homes and Streets
Torrential rain has led to severe flooding in Clovis, New Mexico, resulting in submerged streets, homes, and vehicles. The stormwater breached Dennis Chavez Park and subsequently flowed into nearby residential areas. The Clovis Police Department responded to 40 calls for service overnight to assist stranded motorists. Approximately nine houses were directly impacted, though the flooding has affected many more residences in the area. Residents, like Rebecca, have noted that the event brought back memories of similar flooding in the 1980s, which had previously made it difficult for her parents to leave their home. The mayor has confirmed that drinking water supplies remain unaffected, despite some localized power outages.
