Over 30 Cats Rescued from Abandoned Boat in Tacoma
In Tacoma, Washington, more than 30 cats were rescued from an abandoned sailboat anchored off Owen Beach. The Tacoma Police Department, along with Pierce County Animal Control and the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County, responded to reports of numerous cats living in unsafe conditions on the vessel. The cats appeared malnourished and frightened, requiring careful handling to be safely removed. The rescue operation took two days due to the cats hiding in various nooks and crannies of the sailboat. Authorities are attempting to contact the boat's owner, identified through registration numbers, and believe someone had been providing food and water to the cats.
