Toronto's Multiplex Construction Boom Leads to Street Parking Challenges
In Toronto, the construction of multiplexes has surged, particularly in the Davenport ward, leading to a significant crunch in street parking. This development follows a 2023 city council decision allowing multiplexes to be built without special zoning permissions to address the housing crisis. However, the increase in residential density has not been matched with adequate parking solutions, causing inconvenience for residents. Councillor Alejandra Bravo has proposed a motion to limit the number of street parking permits issued to new multiplex residents to alleviate the issue.
