Richland County Couple Sues Scout Motors Over Construction Damages
An elderly couple in Richland County, South Carolina, has filed a lawsuit against Scout Motors and the county, alleging that construction of a manufacturing plant in Blythewood has damaged their property. William and Barbara Shives claim that the construction activities altered the water table, causing their septic system to fail, and that blasting operations have damaged their home and property. The couple has been forced to leave their home of over 40 years due to the damage and purchase a smaller house. The lawsuit seeks damages and an order to abate the conditions, citing trespass, nuisance, and negligence among other claims. Scout Motors has stated their commitment to community engagement and compliance with regulations.
