Former Louisiana Mayor Misty Roberts Sentenced to 90 Days in Juvenile Sex-Crime Case
Misty Roberts, a former mayor of DeRidder, Louisiana, has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for the statutory rape of a 16-year-old boy. Roberts, who was convicted of two felonies including carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile, faced up to 17 years in prison. The incident occurred in July 2024 during a pool party at Roberts' home where alcohol was involved. As part of her sentencing, Roberts must register as a sex offender, pay $5,000 in fines, and undergo regular drug screenings and psychological therapy. During the sentencing, Roberts expressed remorse, acknowledging her responsibility and apologizing to the victim's family.
