U.S. Governments Urged to Streamline AI Approvals to Unlock Public Value
A recent report by Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Salesforce, and the Centre for Public Impact is urging public sector organizations in the U.S. and globally to streamline their Artificial Intelligence (AI) approval processes. The report highlights that while many governments have established ethical guidelines for AI adoption, the current frameworks and operational workflows are often complex and duplicative, hindering the rapid deployment of AI projects. This inefficiency is causing delays and stalling AI initiatives, preventing the public sector from realizing substantial value, including potential global productivity gains estimated at $1.75 trillion annually. The report suggests moving beyond high-level principles to practical, lifecycle-based approaches that simplify risk triage, clarify roles, and fast-track low-risk productivity tools.
