Deutsche Telekom and SAP Secure German Government AI Platform Contract
Deutsche Telekom, in collaboration with SAP, has been awarded a contract to develop a sovereign AI platform for the German federal government. This decision follows the withdrawal of procurement complaints by competitors Google and Adesso. The platform aims to provide a unified infrastructure for federal, state, and municipal governments in Germany. One of the initial applications to be deployed is Kipitz, an AI solution designed to assist public sector employees with tasks such as document processing, knowledge management, and planning acceleration. Deutsche Telekom's CEO, Tim Höttges, emphasized the importance of digital sovereignty for Europe, highlighting the need for action over discussion to close the digital gap.
