Pew Research Center Reports Majority of Americans Now View AI Negatively Amid Job Loss Concerns
A recent survey by the Pew Research Center indicates a significant shift in public perception regarding artificial intelligence (AI) in the United States. For the first time, more than half of American adults, including those under 30, express more concern than excitement about AI technology. The primary driver for this negative sentiment is the widespread belief that AI will lead to job displacement. The survey found that 71 percent of U.S. adults anticipate AI will result in fewer jobs in the country over the next two decades, an increase from 64 percent two years prior. Only 5 percent believe AI will create more jobs, while 10 percent expect no significant change. This marks a notable change from 2021, when more people were either excited or held a mixed view of AI.
