Gauteng High Court Reinstates PIC CEO Patrick Dlamini After Unlawful Suspension
The Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has ruled to reinstate Patrick Dlamini as CEO of the Public Investment Corporation (PIC), declaring his suspension unlawful and invalid. Dlamini was suspended by a now-dissolved board led by Deputy Minister of Finance David Masondo. The court found that the board acted without the necessary ministerial and cabinet approval, violating PIC's delegation of authority. The suspension and subsequent board resignations posed a threat to government investments and the national economy. The PIC did not oppose Dlamini's application, and costs were awarded against it.
