Christine Dawood Reflects on Loss of Husband and Son in Titan Submersible Implosion
Christine Dawood, who lost her husband Shahzada Dawood and son Suleman Dawood in the Titan submersible implosion, shared her experience and emotions following the tragedy. The incident occurred in 2023 when the Titan, operated by OceanGate, lost contact while exploring the Titanic wreckage. The U.S. Coast Guard later confirmed a catastrophic implosion. Christine, who was on a nearby ship, initially believed her family was merely stuck. The Coast Guard's investigation in 2025 attributed the disaster to the submersible's carbon fiber hull and a toxic work environment at OceanGate. Christine, who lives in Surrey, England, with her daughter, was initially supposed to join the expedition but gave her seat to her son. She continues to cope with her grief by visiting her son's room and reflecting on the memories.
