Study Reveals Optimal Exercise Duration for Heart Health in Less Fit Individuals
A recent study has identified the optimal amount of exercise needed to significantly improve heart health, particularly for individuals who are not naturally fit. The research tracked over 17,000 people aged 40 to 69 over eight years, focusing on their physical activity levels and cardiorespiratory fitness. The study found that approximately 610 minutes of physical activity per week, or about 90 minutes a day, provides the best heart protection for those who are less fit. This finding challenges the traditional belief that shorter workouts are sufficient for long-term heart health. The study emphasizes the importance of gradually increasing physical activity to avoid potential injuries and highlights the benefits of exercise in combating heart disease, which remains the leading cause of death worldwide.
