Survey Reveals Majority of Minors Use AI Chatbots for Sensitive Advice
A recent survey conducted by Thorn, a nonprofit focused on online child safety, reveals that a significant number of minors are using AI chatbots for guidance on sensitive topics. The survey, which included over 1,000 participants aged 9-17, found that 67% of minors reported using AI chatbots, with 29% seeking advice on intimate or sensitive issues. ChatGPT emerged as the most commonly used chatbot, followed by Gemini and Meta AI. The survey also highlighted that 31% of minors used these chatbots to discuss romantic feelings or relationships. The findings underscore the growing role of AI in helping young people navigate confusing or harmful online experiences.
