Brooklyn Navy Yard to Launch EV Charging Workforce Training Program with NYPA Funding
The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) has received a $450,000 grant from the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to establish a training program focused on the maintenance and repair of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. This initiative, in collaboration with SmarterHelp, a workforce development company, aims to equip New Yorkers with the necessary skills for technical roles in the expanding EV sector. The program will be conducted at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, featuring a Smart Lab with EV charging units and instructional tools. Participants will receive training in electrical systems, energy fundamentals, and EV charging equipment maintenance, culminating in industry-recognized credentials and job placement opportunities.
