Mayors Launch AI Forum to Influence Local Governance and Development
A new coalition of mayors from major cities worldwide has been formed to influence the development and governance of artificial intelligence (AI). Announced at the Bloomberg CityLab 2026 summit by Michael R. Bloomberg, the Mayors AI Forum aims to bring together city leaders to shape AI's role in urban life. The founding members include mayors from cities such as Boston, San Francisco, and Tokyo, representing over 100 million residents. The forum seeks to position cities at the forefront of AI discussions, addressing both opportunities and challenges posed by the technology. The initiative is supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies and Johns Hopkins University, with plans to expand its membership over time.
