Heat Wave and Coastal Flooding Persist in Southern California After Tropical Storm Marie
Southern California is experiencing a combination of extreme heat, high humidity, and dangerous coastal conditions following the remnants of Tropical Storm Marie. High surf and coastal flooding advisories remain in effect until 11 p.m. Tuesday, with waves reaching up to 12 feet in some areas, such as Malibu's Zuma Beach. Inland temperatures are expected to soar 10–20°F (5.5–11°C) above normal, with downtown Los Angeles and Long Beach forecasted to hit highs of 96–98°F (35.5–36.6°C). The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Wednesday and Thursday, warning of potential heat stress due to lingering moisture from the storm. Additionally, high tides, reaching up to 7.2 feet, have exacerbated flooding along the coast, particularly in Long Beach and Malibu.
