Brett Goldstein and Vanderbilt University Research AI's Role in Cognitive Warfare
Brett Goldstein, a professor at Vanderbilt University, has conducted research revealing advancements in cognitive warfare techniques by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). These techniques have become more sophisticated and harder to detect, utilizing AI-generated virtual personas to influence thoughts and ideologies. The research indicates that these AI personas are being used to manipulate sensitive topics and deepen societal divisions, particularly in the U.S. and its foreign policies. The study highlights the creation of hundreds of 'virtual personas' by a Chinese company, GoLaxy, aimed at influencing regions like Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and the U.S. These personas are designed to collect public information from social media and disseminate content to alter behaviors.
