Congressman Greg Landsman Introduces Bill to Address AI Data Center Environmental Impacts
Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH-01) has introduced the Protecting Communities from Data Center Impacts Act, aimed at regulating the environmental effects of AI data centers. As a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Landsman is advocating for federal oversight to protect communities in Southwest Ohio. The proposed legislation mandates the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to collaborate with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to study and develop best practices for mitigating issues such as noise pollution, air pollution, water consumption, and electronic waste.
