UN Women Focuses on Eliminating Discrimination Against Women and Girls
UN Women, an entity created by the United Nations General Assembly in 2010, is dedicated to eliminating discrimination against women and girls, empowering women, and achieving gender equality. The organization consolidates the efforts of four previously distinct UN entities focused on gender equality. UN Women operates globally, including in Timor-Leste, where it promotes women's rights and participation in leadership roles. The organization focuses on enhancing women's economic empowerment, ending violence against women, engaging women in peace and security processes, and integrating gender equality into national development planning. A Communications Analyst in Timor-Leste is responsible for planning and implementing communication strategies to raise awareness of UN Women's initiatives.
