Jersey City's Boulevard Drinks Faces Closure Amid New Development Plans
Boulevard Drinks, a beloved hot dog spot in Jersey City, is at risk of closing after nearly 90 years of service. The establishment, located in Journal Square, has been informed by the building's new owner that they have 30 days to vacate. This decision comes as part of a new development plan that includes the construction of a Whole Foods and 85 affordable housing units. Despite having a lease until 2034, manager Victor Victoratos is facing the challenge of relocating the business. The situation has sparked concern among local patrons and community leaders, including Ward C Councilman Tom Zuppa, who is advocating for the preservation of local businesses like Boulevard Drinks amidst the neighborhood's rapid transformation.
