Russian Hackers Target Signal Users in Phishing Campaign
Cybersecurity researcher Donncha Ó Cearbhaill identified a phishing attempt targeting Signal users, purportedly from Signal security, claiming a data breach and requesting a special code. This scam was linked to a hacking group associated with the Russian government, aiming to trick users into linking their accounts to devices under the hackers' control. The US CISA, along with UK and Dutch intelligence services, had previously warned about such cyberattacks. The campaign reportedly targeted over 13,500 users, including high-ranking politicians in Germany. Signal has advised users to be cautious and avoid entering codes via suspicious links.
