Melania Trump's Public Appearances Decline Significantly Compared to First Term
Melania Trump's public appearances have notably decreased during President Trump's current term, with her last media appearance reported a month ago at the FIFA World Cup final in New Jersey. According to NBC News, she has made 38 public appearances this year, which is half the number she made during the same period in President Trump's first term. She has also visited fewer states and Puerto Rico, nine compared to 14 in the previous term. This decline is evident in her absence from several significant events, including the funeral of Republican Senator Lindsey Graham on July 28, the White House Correspondents' Dinner four days prior, and the burial ceremony for four fallen soldiers on July 22. These absences have drawn media attention and contrast with the more frequent public engagements of previous First Ladies, such as Jill Biden, who visited approximately 33 states during a comparable period.
