ONDC Initiative Aims to Transform India's Ecommerce Landscape
The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) is an open-source commerce framework launched in India to support small merchants, known as kiranas, in establishing an online presence. Unlike traditional marketplaces, ONDC connects apps, payment providers, and logistics companies through open standards, allowing merchants to engage in online commerce without being tied to a single platform. The initiative aims to empower small businesses and local brands by providing a cost-effective and flexible ecommerce solution. Selling fees on ONDC are significantly lower than those on traditional marketplaces, making it an attractive option for merchants.
