Utah Tops List as Best State for Remote Work Due to Low Costs and High Internet Access
A recent analysis by WalletHub has identified Utah as the best state for remote work in the United States. The study evaluated all 50 states and Washington, D.C., based on two main categories: work environment and living environment. The work environment category considered factors such as the share of households with Internet access and the prevalence of remote workers, while the living environment category assessed average Internet and utility costs, as well as home size. Utah emerged as the top state due to its low electricity costs and moderate Internet prices, along with having the third-highest share of households with Internet access. Delaware and Connecticut followed in second and third place, respectively, with Delaware boasting a high percentage of potential remote workers and Connecticut offering the lowest Internet prices. Conversely, Alaska, Montana, and West Virginia were ranked lowest due to their high Internet costs.
