EPA Allocates $11.75 Million to Fortify U.S. Drinking Water Systems Against Cyberattacks and Extreme Weather
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced $11.75 million in grant funding to enhance the resilience of midsize and large drinking water systems across the nation. This funding, distributed through the Midsize and Large Drinking Water System Infrastructure Resilience and Sustainability grant program, will support ten specific projects aimed at protecting these vital systems from cybersecurity threats and improving their ability to withstand extreme weather events. EPA Assistant Administrator for Water Jess Kramer emphasized that this initiative is crucial for ensuring clean and safe water for American families, businesses, and schools, as cyberattacks, wildfires, flooding, and other hazards pose significant risks to water system operations.
