Russia's Crypto Hardware Wallet Sales Surge as New Regulations Loom
In Russia, the demand for hardware crypto wallets has more than doubled in the first half of 2026, according to data from major retailers. This surge comes as the country prepares to implement new crypto regulations. Retailer M.Video reported a 107% increase in unit sales in the second quarter compared to the first, while Wildberries saw an 84% rise in unit sales in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2025. The increase in sales is attributed to upcoming regulations that will require crypto transactions to go through regulated entities, with a transition period ending on July 1, 2027. The new framework will allow regulated exchanges and digital depositories, while imposing a cap on retail investors' annual crypto purchases.
