Fortescue's $680 Million Investment in Pilbara Green Energy Project to Boost Renewable Infrastructure
Fortescue, an Australian mining company, has announced a $680 million investment to expand green energy infrastructure in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The project aims to integrate 1.2GW of solar, 600MW of wind, and 4-5GW-hours of battery storage by 2028, along with 620km of transmission lines. This initiative is part of Fortescue's strategy to achieve energy independence and manage costs amid global energy market instability. The company is collaborating with government bodies and traditional custodians to develop the project, which is expected to meet increasing industrial demand, including from data centers.
