13-Year-Old Dies in E-Scooter Accident, Family Mourns Loss
A tragic accident occurred in Pomona, California, where 13-year-old Angel Roman Mendoza Lopez was fatally struck by a car while riding his electric scooter. The incident took place on a Friday afternoon as Angel attempted to cross the street on San Antonio Avenue. According to the Pomona Police Department, Angel was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. A parked vehicle obstructed the views of both Angel and the driver, leading to the collision. Angel was initially taken to Pomona Valley Hospital and later transferred to Children’s Hospital of Orange County, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Angel's family described him as having 'a golden heart' and shared that he had aspirations of becoming a police officer.
