Texas Heat Persists with Triple-Digit Temperatures into September
Texas continues to experience prolonged triple-digit temperatures across the state, from the Panhandle to South Texas and the Gulf Coast to North Texas. Some areas are also facing dangerous heat indexes. The Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts a warmer and drier start to fall for much of Texas, with regional variations. Northern and western areas are expected to experience conditions typical of the High Plains and Desert Southwest, while East and Central Texas may see more temperature variability. The Climate Prediction Center has forecast above-normal temperatures for the southern and central U.S. from September through November, influenced by a strengthening El Niño, which has a greater-than-90% chance of becoming very strong during the fall and winter.
