DLR Advocates for Certification by Analysis to Accelerate Aerospace Technology Development
The German Aerospace Center (DLR) is promoting 'certification by analysis' as a method to expedite the development of new aerospace technologies. This approach involves using virtual assessments to replace some physical tests, potentially reducing the time and cost associated with bringing new technologies to market. Markus Fischer, a board member at DLR, highlighted the potential of this method during a panel discussion at the ILA Berlin Air Show. The approach is seen as a way to support the European aerospace industry's efforts to innovate and shorten research and development cycles. DLR has been working to gain broader acceptance for this method, which could be included in future EU research and innovation funding plans.
