Aurora City Council to Formalize Partnership with New Downtown Organization
The city of Aurora is set to formalize its relationship with the newly formed Aurora Downtown District, an organization created to support the city's downtown area. This development follows the dissolution of the former Aurora Downtown group, which had merged with other entities to form the Aurora Regional Economic Alliance. However, under the leadership of Mayor John Laesch, the city decided to establish the Aurora Downtown District to focus specifically on downtown initiatives. The new organization will be funded by a special tax applied to properties within the downtown area, known as Special Service Area Number One. The Aurora City Council is expected to approve agreements that will allow the city to distribute these tax funds to the organization and provide it with office space at a minimal cost. The organization aims to enhance downtown Aurora through marketing, events, business support, and public space improvements.
