Study Finds Green Spaces Reduce Stress in Pregnant Women
A study led by researchers from Bar-Ilan University in Israel has found that pregnant women living in greener neighborhoods experience lower levels of long-term stress. The research, conducted in collaboration with several institutions, including Tel Aviv University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, analyzed hair samples from hundreds of pregnant women to assess chronic stress levels. The study revealed that women exposed to more residential greenery had significantly lower concentrations of cortisol and cortisone, two key stress hormones. These findings suggest that exposure to greenery can positively impact maternal and fetal health by reducing stress hormone levels.
