FAO Offers Governance and Policy Support for Famine Monitoring and Mitigation
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is providing extensive governance and policy support resources to enhance famine monitoring and mitigation efforts. These resources, which are freely available to the public, include a wide array of tools such as briefs, guidelines, datasets, and e-learning modules. The FAO's initiatives cover various policy themes critical to food security and rural development, including access to rural finance, biodiversity, climate change, decent rural employment, disaster risk reduction in agriculture, and emergencies and rural livelihoods. Other key areas of focus include empowering the rural poor, food chain crisis management, food loss and waste reduction, gender equality in agriculture, and governance. The organization also addresses nutrition and food systems, pastoralism, resilience in protracted crises, the right to food, rural poverty reduction, social protection, and sustainable agribusiness and food value chains.
