Forescout's research indicates significant progress in AI models' ability to conduct vulnerability research and develop exploits autonomously. Testing involved 50 AI models, including commercial, open-source, and underground variants. Models like Claude Opus 4.6 and Kimi K2.5 demonstrated capabilities to find and exploit vulnerabilities without complex prompts, making them accessible to inexperienced attackers. The research highlights the potential of AI in cybersecurity, both for identifying vulnerabilities and for malicious use.
