Oklahoma Officials Unveil Design for Toby Keith Expressway Bridge Honoring Late Singer's Legacy
The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) has revealed the design for the Toby Keith Expressway, a 28-mile toll road named in honor of the late country music singer. Renderings for the project, unveiled on September 1, incorporate elements reflecting Keith's life and passions, including his love for horses and music. The design, a collaboration between Keith's family, the OTA, and the Oklahoma Arts Council, features a bridge over Interstate 35 with a custom guitar pick bearing Keith's initials, 'TK,' and a procession of horses across the overpasses. This initial phase of artwork will focus on the I-35 interchange, with potential for further design concepts along the turnpike as construction progresses. The Canadian River Bridge near Newcastle is expected to be completed by spring 2028, and the entire project is slated for completion by 2033.
