Vodafone Advances European 'Federated Edge' Initiative to Enhance Digital Infrastructure
Vodafone is making significant progress in its initiative to establish a 'federated' edge digital infrastructure across Europe. This project, known as the European Edge Continuum, aims to allow multinational corporations and large public sector organizations to deploy applications consistently across various European countries. The initiative is supported by major telecom operators including Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telefónica, and Telecom Italia. The federated approach is designed to maintain data sovereignty while enabling seamless application deployment. Vodafone plans to transition from the validation phase to broader customer trials, with its lab in Malaga serving as the project's focal point. This initiative was initially introduced at the Mobile World Congress, highlighting the collaborative efforts of Europe's leading telecom companies.
